I just recently finished my first commissioned drawing. It was a very rewarding experience. I guess it just gives me hope that I can make money doing what I love. I set my price at 150 US dollars for an 11x14, which is very reasonable in my opinion because of the hours I put in. I told my friend the price before I started and she had no problem, so it must not be to much. When I finished it and posted the picture on facebook, she saw it and was speechless. As I was chatting with her about the drawing I mentioned that the fur was pretty tough to draw and I also mentioned I had over 40 hours in the fur because I was trying to find a technique for rendering the dogs fur. She asked me how much more she owed me, I laughed and said that I had already set the price in the beginning so all she owed me was to tell everyone and show everyone the drawing. I am now starting 3 different drawings at the same time, Mila Kunis, a puppy and kitten and my cousins two little boys. This way I wont get burned out when I start rendering animal fur!
